This week our much-loved yarn shops open their doors again after more than 3 months, although it feels longer, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Anne Louise and Thistle Woolshops in Cowplain and Portsmouth

This pandemic has been so tough for them and many other high street stores, but yarn shops have shown such resilience and determination to keep us supplied with everything we need to keep knitting or crocheting.

Clare's Little Wool Shop in Bude

No sooner had the first lockdown started than they were trying to find ways to help us. Some built websites or started selling on Facebook or Instagram. Others offered phone ordering, click and collect or local delivery. Still others took their knitting and crochet groups online to keep in touch and some even organised teams of people to make masks and scrubs for our NHS heroes.

Having had to change the way they ran their businesses many are continuing to offer these services even though they are now open, to offer crafters levels of customer service we could only have dreamt of.

So, we'd like to say a huge thank you to each and every shop – you are amazing.

Whether you have a local yarn shop or choose one that can mail out to you, we hope you will buy as much as you can from these gems of the high street.
